What happens when we don't have peace of mind? When the body is in a distressed state, a reaction occurs causing the adrenal gland to release cortisol. The main function of this steroid hormone is to redistribute glucose to parts of the body that need it most - known as the fight or flight response. However it also suppresses our immune system, making us more susceptible to disease. So if how we feel effects our health, let's try our best to be mindful.
